Alan Lea Gallagher's Obituary
Alan passed peacefully on March 9th, 2021 after several years of declining health, with his wife Esther by his side.
Born in Rochester, New York in 1942, he moved to Dallas, Texas in 1949 with his parents Jack and Eleanor Gallagher and only sibling Anne.
A graduate of W.W. Samuell High School, Alan attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, where he earned degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management. A successful career followed with American Cyanamid/Shulton Canada. Along with a promotion to Director of Operations came the opportunity to move to Canada to expand the operations, and it was in Toronto, Canada he met and married Esther Gallagher. Shortly after, they made the decision to leave the snow and cold of the Canadian winters behind, and settle back in Texas.
Back in Texas and semi-retired, Alan found a love of volunteering. Over the years he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, White Rock Animal Hospital, the Dallas Arboretum, and Buckner Shoes for Orphan souls. He was so disappointed when, due to failing health, he had to give up his volunteering, but he had great memories which he loved to share.
Alan was proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Eleanor Gallagher, and sister Anne.
Survived by his wife Esther, daughter Shana (from previous marriage) grandson Christopher, and several nephews and nieces.
