Aleksander (Aleks) Mrdjenovic (1950 - 2023)
Aleks Mrdjenovic, a man of compassion, intellect, and unwavering kindness, passed away on July 16, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and understanding. Born in Dannenberg, Germany, Aleks migrated to the United States as a child and settled in Independence, Missouri. He pursued his academic passions, studying Russian history at the University of Missouri and later earning a master's degree from the University of Kansas.
Aleks's life took an unexpected turn when he changed his academic path to Architecture Engineering, becoming a dedicated professional at DART for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he forged strong friendships and was known for his genuine smile and caring nature.
Together with his beloved wife, Sui-Chan, Aleks established a scholarship foundation at the University of Kansas, fostering a love for Russian and Chinese history and literature and promoting cultural exchange.
Aleks Mrdjenovic will be remembered for his infectious spirit, his dedication to knowledge, and his ability to touch the lives of those around him. His warm heart and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Aleks is survived by his wife Sui-Chan, sister Kristina Bobe, and niece Alexandra Bobe.
