Alice M Reaves' Obituary
Alice Margaret Louise Luttring Reaves, 75-year resident of Dallas, TX, died peacefully on Aug. 3. In recent years, she often shared with her family, friends and church members how the word “can’t” was never in her vocabulary when tackling any task. Honesty and hard work truly instilled in her what she referred to as the “grit” needed to climb life’s highest mountains.
Margaret was born in Lyford Texas to Alice Margret Lagerstam and Leonard Washington Luttring. Her mother passed away shortly after her birth, so Margaret and her sister Janice were raised by their maternal grandparents, Emil B. Lagerstam and Hanna M. Jönsson. They operated a dairy farm where Margaret learned how to take care of chickens, herd cattle, milk cows, drive a tractor and haul grain. She also learned to put Jesus first in her life. While she was grateful for all she learned on the farm, when Margaret met and married Earl, one of the things they agreed on is that they would never move back to a farm.
An independent accountant for 17 years, Margaret also worked 25 years at the Dallas Market Center in various capacities; showroom management, fulfillment and supervisor for various markets. She was an energetic and loyal volunteer supporting the missions and goals of American Airlines/DFW airport for 14 years, Old City Park, and Methodist Surgical Center among others.
She is survived by three children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are: Larry E. Reaves and wife Cynthia L. Grant, their children Allison L. Reaves and husband Mark K. Turner; their children Reaves E. Turner and Vance G. Turner; David E. Clift-Reaves and wife Elana Clift-Reaves; their children Asher E. Clift-Reaves and Zev E. Clift-Reaves.
G. Duane Reaves and wife M. Gwen Smith; their children Gary D. Reaves II and wife Rebekah E. Ekdahl; their children Abbot C. Reaves, Cortland J. Reaves, Callahan M. Reaves and M. Faith Reaves; John B. Reaves and wife Lizzette Scarleth; their child Scarlett M. Reaves.
Cynthia P. Reaves and husband Terence J. Rogan; their child Andrea M. Rogan.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Janice L. Patrick and her niece Lisa J. Patrick. She is also survived by many cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Benjamin Earl Reaves, her husband of 58 years.
Memorial services will be at Restland Funeral Home on August 25, 2025. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
