Aunt Alta Mae has a special place in my heart. We always seemed to be on the same wave length! We could talk and laugh about any subject, and I always admired her intelligence, sense of humor, generous spirit, and love of family. I'm so blessed that my Mom, Frances Johnson, Alta's only sister, is still with me, and doing well. I remember many wonderful days visiting with Alta, Petrey, Carl Wayne and Greg, and later with their wives, Bonnie and Sara, and their families. In the "old days", we would gather at Mama Reed's frame house, up the hill from my childhood home, and I would soak up lots of good times with my relatives. There were homemade pies on the windowsill, a big oak table set with delicious food, and lots of conversation and fun. It was the best of times. Papa Reed usually sat in an old rocker on the screen porch, and I know it was really hot out there, but I always felt comfortable in his lap! Mama Reed was an excellent cook and seamstress, and my mother, and Alta, both inherited her household skills. I will miss you, sweet Aunt Alta. I'll never forget opening those prize boxes of Madame Alexander dolls you gave me many Christmases ago. I would open your gifts in anxious anticipation, knowing they were special because they were from you. You were the best aunt any little girl could have. We had some wonderful times together. All of my love to Carl, Bonne, Greg, Sara, and their families. We have been close through many years, and we will always remain a close, loving family. Myra Smith, Liberty, Tx. Alta's niece
