Amy Carol Sword's Obituary
Amy Carol (Helmick) Sword passed away on August 16, 2015 at her home in McKinney, Texas. She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on October 29, 1978. She grew up in Austin, Texas and attended Westwood High School. After working briefly in the photography industry; she chose a career in the mortgage industry. She most recently worked as a mortgage underwriter for Citibank until she was disabled by an injury. Amy’s hobbies included photography, listening to music and jogging; but what she loved most was spending time with her children. Although coping with several medical issues; she had recently moved from Houston to a new home in McKinney so she could spend more time with her children. Amy loved people and made friends wherever she went. She always followed her heart, and was known for rescuing dogs, horses and wayward people. She was kind and thoughtful and always remembered the birthdays and anniversaries for each family member and her friends. Amy is survived by her children: Rachel Ann Sword, Katelynn Marie Sword, and Tyler Matthew Sword of McKinney, Texas; her step-father and mother, Donald and Cheryl McCurdy of Cleveland, Texas; her brother, Willam Helmick of Cleveland, Texas; her step-brother, Daniel McCurdy of Porter, Texas; her step-sister, Amy McCurdy of Austin, Texas; her nieces, Stephanie Helmick, Sara Helmick, Faith McCurdy, Oliva McCurdy and her step-nephew Alex Shelton. Amy was preceded in death by her father William B. Helmick and her half-brother Christopher Helmick. Amy will forever be remembered as loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, 11:00 AM at the Cleveland First United Methodist Church, 100 N William Barnett Ave, Cleveland, Texas 77327.
