I was lucky enough to be able to spend the night with Aunt Lois a few times. We talked and laughed and talked some more. I would say, "It's 2 o'clock we need to go to bed. 'I'm not through talking", she would say. Pretty soon it was 4. She told me about coming in from the field and meeting Grandpa on the path. "Eunice always moved over and told me to come on. I told her I will not! He will move and he did. I should not have done that. " She then told me about the shoes Granny made with the soles made from. 'casins'. As she told this story, her eyes teared, "I would give anything to have a pair of those shoes Mama made out of love.

My earliest memories of Aunt Lois are vivid. She always had a great sense of style and dressed so well. Even in the later years that I saw her she always took care of herself. She must have been an influence to her baby sister Rita Jo, because when Aunt Rita lived with us in Mesquite, she was always dressing me up and stressing the importance of fashion and appearance. I remember she was a great cook, and always heard Mama tell us she was a gracious host to anyone that came to her home, I have a few memories of going to Aunt Lois and Uncle Chris' house to visit. Your family is in our prayers and we all know she's in a much better place. God Bless!

Very sweet Peggy. love you
I used to love spending the night with meemaw. She would let me stay up late, eat totinos pizza, and ice cream (but usually eat half of mine). On most mornings, I'd wake up and watch the price's right and the young and the restless with her in the sun room. She would gasp in shock at some wicked thing the characters did on the show, and then look at me and say, "They shouldn't act like that," and shake her head. It always made me laugh. I also loved her dance parties in the kitchen listening to George jones, Roy orbison or some other country music. I will miss her sassy attitude greatly. I will miss her love for life and most of all her. I'm glad that she is no longer suffering and is hanging out in Heaven.
"My favorite Meemaw/great-grandchild story involves Zach, Andrew, and Josh. Meemaw calls me and tells me that the boys won't stop laughing at her and eat their lunch. I asked her why they were laughing at her and she said that she was telling them to sit down and eat their weenies! I explained to Meemaw why they were laughing. "Oh my!" is what Meemaw had to say, as well as getting on to me for referencing the actual word for "weenie"!!" Kristi Barrows – Granddaughter
