Anna Lois Monk's Obituary
Anna Lois George Monk was born on December 11, 1927 in Teague, TX. She passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 in Garland, TX at the age of 87. Lois was the sixth of thirteen children born to O’Dell and Jewel Lillian Jones-George and grew up in Donie, Texas. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and baby brother Boyce George and grandson Brad Poteat. Other siblings included Brothers Johnny, Billy, Bobby and Travis George. Sisters preceding Lois in death are Zudell and her husband John Haroski, Lottie Rae and her husband JW Mitchell, Eunice and her husband Raymond Cothran, as well as sister Tola Orbison and sister Fredia Arnold. Lois is survived by sister Rita Jo and her husband RG Black, brother Holton and his wife Rita George as well as sister-in-law Berle George, and brothers-in-law Jack Orbison and Clayton Arnold. Lois is survived by Chris Monk, her husband of 72 years as well as their three children Peggy Ann and husband Dale Penn, Norman Wayne and his wife Linda Monk, and Anita Jo and husband Mark Poteat. Lois and Chris have eleven grandchildren: Norma, Holly, Wendee, Kristi, Amber, Penny, James Chris, Joanna Dee, Aimee, Paige, and Alexandria as well as 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The visitation for Anna Monk will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Centerville Road Church of Christ, 1102 East Centerville Road, Garland, Texas 75043. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association – www.alz.org
