Patti, Bridget & Sarah (and all of Arlene's family), am so sorry that we cannot be with you all today, but please know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you say goodbye to Arlene. Although I didn't get to know her as well as some in our family, she always reminded me of "Maxine," that feisty lady on the greeting cards. To have suffered the losses that she did (all three children and two husbands) and to still have lived life to the fullest says a great deal about her. Of course, she was George's Mom, so she had to be a pretty special lady, huh?!? Anyway, hope (and pray!) that all the memories you shared with Arlene will bring much comfort and peace (and joy too!).as you bid her farewell and God's speed as she makes her way to her heavenly home. Although I didn't get to know (or be around) Arlene as much as my sisters, JoAnne and Patsy, whenever I was around her, she always reminded me of "Maxine" (the feisty lady on the greeting cards, mugs and calendars, etc.). Don't think Arlene was one to "mince" words, but also got the impression that she truly did love life (and as her family has said, she lived it to the fullest!). And, she obviously was a lady with a strong faith . . . takes an awful lot of strength (and courage!) to bury two husbands (and three children too!) and to keep going (and living life, not just getting through it!). Know you all will miss Arlene a/k/a "Maxine," but no doubt she has left you with many "living out loud" memories!!! May God Bless and Comfort All of Arlene's Family and Friends as you mourn her loss, but also celebrate her life and what she meant to all of you. Got to know Arlene about seven years ago. A wonderful Mum-in-law. Grandmum. And always ready for a party. She was stong, articulate, and adored her grandchldren, and her daughter-in-law Patti. who took such fabulous care of Arlene. Patti, you always put Arlene first, and uou kept uour promise to her. Arlene, R.I.P with the Angels, You were one great lady!

Arlene was my Daddy's first cousin . All of my growing up years from time to time she came to my grandparent's home to visit in Norphlet ,AR. We loved for her and her family to come. She was always the life if the party. In spite of her great losses in her life , she was always positive and happy. She was a strong woman ! Her mother, we called her Aunt Sis, was a sister to my grandmother, Minnie Cooke Mason. Many fond memories of her too.

Arlene knew how to make and keep a friend. She and my mother, Louise Sturdivant Bell, had been pals since the third grade in Norphlet, Arkansas. Their families were not well off, but they played and sang their way through high school together, then headed out for adventures. They worked on the switchboard at an army post in Abilene, Texas, at the end of WWII, then both got jobs in Dallas, Texas. They have visited in years past, and recently stayed in touch by cards and calls. Her faith in God was an integral part of who she was, and her strength was phenomenal. Mom and all of us will miss hearing "Well, this is Arlene!".

To Patti and Arlene's family: Although we were not able to really get to know her, we heard many wonderful things about Arlene. I am happy that she lived her long life around those who really cared for her. So many don't get to do that. So, thanks to you Patti for seeing after her like you did for so long. We remember you and dear George with fondness and a smile. George was so kind to us and Arlene's passing makes me think of him, his wit and his beautiful spirit, as well as his piano playing.
