Arlene Prothro Ross' Obituary
On July 8, 2017, Arlene P. Winston Ross passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas. She was 93 years-old. Arlene was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and lived in Dallas most of her adult life. She was our beloved mother-in-law, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend and she will be remembered most as a sassy, hard-working, persevering, and faith-filled woman. She outlived two husbands, George Winston, Sr. and Willard Ross. Additionally, she was pre-deceased by all three children; George Winston Jr., Nancy Miller, and William Winston, and 1 step-daughter, Lynne Anne McLeod – yet never lost faith in God or stopped living life to the fullest. She worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist at Allied Bolt & Screw (NAPPCO Fasteners) until just 5 years ago, drove her Cadillac fast, did Weight Watchers at 90 years-old, and enjoyed her wine, martinis, or scotch daily. Arlene is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Bailey Winston, sons-in-law William Ansley and Larry Miller, step-son Steven Ross, step-daughter Linda Ross Owings, brother Joe Prothro, grandchildren Stephanie Miller Ward, Jeffrey Miller, Bridget Winston D’Angelo, Sarah Winston Waller, Eric Ross, & Aubrey Ross Hines, and great-grandchildren Avin Miller, Matthew Ward, and Layla Ross. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church Farmers Branch at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ United Methodist Church Farmers Branch, 2807 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.
