Blackie was a perfect gentleman! I will have fond memories for ever. He would save his fresh figs for me. Our best days were at The Mineola Country Club playing golf. I will always have fond memories of The Veterans Tournament about 3 years ago, Blackie was 92 and our playing partner was 93 year old, Lou Diaz. Both of them World War II Vets. They each played their best golf and our team won 2nd place. Blackie was closest to the flag on number nine. It was a great day! Brenda and Rusty drove down and walked all 18 with us. Blackie, I will miss you til we meet again!

As I read Blackie's obituary, I felt a need to let your family know how much you meant to our families in Jacksonville. As best friends of my parents, Bill and Alice Worley, you and Phyllis have been part of our lives since the 1970's.
I sill remember a "heated" game of washers under the big, oak tree in our back yard. I am so grateful to Brenda and Rusty for making our last visit with you in Quitman possible.
Our lives have been blessed and enriched through your friendship. I will miss our "mail" connection but will always love and value our memories of you and Phyllis. God is good. Ann and Larry Garner
