Barbara and my mother were best friends for over 60 years. They raised us kids together and took turns keeping an eye on us when we played kick ball out in the street. Barbara's door was always open to us night and day. She would let us run in and out of the house all day long. Whenever I started experimenting with baking, she would always let me borrow sugar, butter, or eggs. Something we would always run low on but Barbara's kitchen was always well stocked. Barbara loved sweets so she enjoyed tasting my experiments. Mom and Barbara loved to sit and visit on our front porch swing. They became especially close in their golden years going out for dinner frequently or to the movies, or musicals. After my Dad passed away, we moved back in to the home place and became neighbors with Barbara once again. We had many impromptu dinner "parties" and would invite Mom and Barbara to attend. So many great memories. I just can't imagine Burwood without Barbara being right across the street. She will be greatly missed by our family.
