Beth Crutchfield Powell's Obituary
BETH CRUTCHFIELD POWELL went to her Heavenly Home on January 19, 2025, where she was received by her Lord and Savior.
William Sterling and Anna Kelly Crutchfield welcomed Ida Beth on December 28, 1923, in Sheridan, Arkansas. After graduation from Sheridan High School, she attended and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University. Upon graduation, she came to Dallas where she worked in the Endowment Department of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She joined the First Baptist Church of Dallas, where Beth met the love of her life, Charles Morris Powell, Jr. They were married in the sanctuary of the Church on October 6, 1950. She worked in and taught in the Junior High Division for 16 years. At the time of her death, she was a "homebound", but loyal member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
She worked at Southern Methodist University for 28 years. Fourteen of those years were in the Reading Center, where she traveled extensively for The International Reading Association. The last 14 years were with the Vice President for Student Affairs Office, where she received the coveted and prestigious "M" Award for outstanding service to the University. She retired in 1994.

Beth enjoyed traveling, music, cooking, scrapbooking, reading, crossword puzzles and was a devoted and loyal Texas Rangers fan.
Preceded in death by parents, W. S. and Anna Kelly Crutchfield, Husband, Charles Morris Powell, Jr., brother, William Sterling (Bud) Crutchfield, Jr., sister, Martha Ann Crutchfield Linzay and granddaughter, Frances Elizabeth Mullens.
She is survived by:
