Bette Clara Williams Salmon's Obituary
Bette Clara Williams Salmon, 96, passed away October 9, 2020 in Desoto, Texas. She was born July 23, 1924 to William John Williams and Sarah Jane Jones Williams in Glamorgan-South Wales, Great Britian. She married Orville Salmon on November 24, 1947 in Rockwall, Texas. She was Retired as a Salvation Army Officer after 46 years. She was a member of The Eastern Star. In her early years, Bette lived in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Paschal High School before continuing to seminary in Atlanta, GA. in 1942. She met her husband of nearly 73 years at a church Christmas dinner after he had just returned from military service. The were married two years later in Rockwall, TX. Bette served as a Salvation Army Officer and was ordained in 1943 as a member of the Valiant session. She was the last survivor of her session. Bette and Orville's first appointment was in Littlefield, TX. Following this assignment, they served as active officers in The Texas division, where Bette found great joy in grading Bible lessons for youth; Alabama-Louisiana-Mississippi Division, North and South Carolina Division, Oklahoma and Arkansas division and then to Territorial Headquarters. She was enthusiastic about her ministry to women. Together with Orville, Bette lead six educational tours of the Holy Land which included more than 600 students. They retired from active service in November, 1991. She will be greatly missed by her family who loved her, her loving spouse, Orville, daughters, Bette Jo(Michael) McDonald, Debra(Bill) Mockabee and Paula(Ken) Johnson. Her five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren will miss their time with Nan.
She is survived by husband Orville Salmon-Desoto, Texas, daughters Bette Jo McDonald-Midlothian, TX, Debra Mockabee-Atlanta, GA, Paula Johnson-Alexandria, VA, Five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Margaret Jane Salmon, sons Daniel James Salmon, Samuel John Salmon and grandson Matthew Aaron Mockabee.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM Hoblitzelle Camp 8060 Singleton Rd, Midlothian, TX 76065. A Service will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Hoblitzelle Camp 8060 Singleton Rd, Midlothian, TX 76065.
