Betty Jane Silk's Obituary
In loving memory of Betty Jane Holbrook Silk, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 25, 2016 after a short, hard fought illness. Betty was born March 28, 1927 in Dallas, Texas the only daughter of Clarence C and Hazel Holbrook. She graduated from North Dallas High School and worked at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was beautiful, vivacious and fun loving all her life. She married the handsome and devoted, James E. Silk, March 30, 1946, who preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage. Betty was an enthusiastic volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years, a member and volunteer of Cochran Chapel Methodist Church and the North Dallas Ladies Club. She enjoyed cooking delicious food and being with family. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence Holbrook, Jr, his wife Mary Nelle Shumann Holbrook and Sister-in-law Christine Holbrook. She is survived by her daughters, Janet and her husband Peter C. Harris of Shanghai China and Jill and her husband Rick Daignault of Frisco; grandchildren Kyle Harris and fiancee, Shana Hallmark, Faith Daignault and Ethan Daignault, all of Frisco; step-granddaughters, Leslie Harris and fiancé, John Mucha, of Portland, Maine and Siobhan and husband Michael Criscuolo, of NYC; great grandson, Connor Harris and step-great grandson Caidan Hernandez and step-great granddaughter, Lauren Mucha; Betty’s brother Alan C. Holbrook, of Dallas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will greet friends on Monday November 28 from 6:00 pm – 8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Funeral service will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel, at 3:00pm on Tuesday, November 29, with reception to follow. Our family would like to thank BeeHive Homes of Lewisville and Compassus Hospice, Denton County for their thoughtful and loving care of Betty. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Compassus Hospice, Denton County, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas or the American Red Cross.
