Betty Jean Seale Stripling
June 3, 1929 – May 4, 2025
Betty Jean Seale Stripling, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on June 3, 1929, in Quitaque, Texas, Betty was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering zest for life.
She graduated from Crowell High School in Crowell, Texas, in the Class of 1946 and went on to study at Baylor University before transferring to Texas Tech University in Lubbock. There, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1950—and met the love of her life, Richard Connor Stripling, whom she later married.
Betty lived a rich and vibrant life, raising a family and actively engaging in her community. She was a longtime member of the Richardson Women’s Club and enjoyed playing golf and bridge with dear friends. A gracious hostess and talented cook, she loved entertaining guests in her home, tending to her garden, and sharing her passion for reading. Throughout her life, she was fortunate to travel the world, collecting cherished memories and stories along the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Brooks Seale, her husband, Richard Stripling, and her son-in law, Greg McKenzie.
She is survived by her son, David Stripling; her daughter, Nancy Stripling McKenzie, her two grandchildren: Ben McKenzie and his wife, Ann; Melissa Basham and her husband, Daniel, her four great-grandchildren: Connor McKenzie, Wyatt Basham, Matthew McKenzie, and Gracie McKenzie. She is also remembered fondly by a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on June 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church Richardson in Richardson, Texas. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the church immediately following the service.
