Billy " Bill " Gene Chapman's Obituary
Billy “Bill” Gene Chapman, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in his home in Farmers Branch, Texas. Services will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Wildwood Chapel at Restland followed by graveside burial in Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
Bill was born November 8, 1926, in his family home in Lawrence County, Tennessee, to Auvie “A.D.” and Hazel Chapman.
Bill proudly served his country in Germany during World War II as an enlisted member of the U.S. Army. He graduated from the University of Tennessee after his return in 1947. He later continued his service as an officer in the reserves until 1954.
He was employed by Mobil Oil in Dallas for many years. Later he owned and operated a United Van Lines Moving and Storage Company in Dallas.
Bill enjoyed fishing and boating with his sons. He spent many hours tending to his backyard garden and his lawn. He was a member of James A. Smith Masonic Lodge No. 395 in Farmers Branch. Bill also traced his lineage back to the Republic of Texas and was a member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas, Thomas J. Rusk Chapter, Dallas. Even though he was Episcopalian, Bill attended Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Farmers Branch with his wife Faye.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Marie “Polly” Weinberg and their sons, Richard and Michael, as well as his parents and siblings.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, Faye, to whom he was married for 51 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Kathy and Lisa, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
