Billy Roy Brown's Obituary
Billy Roy Brown, 98 of Dallas, Texas, passed away on July 9, 2024, peacefully after a short stay at T Boone Pickens Hospice & Palliative Care Center. He lived a very active life the last 17 years at PVN , Presbyterian Village North in Dallas.
Billy R. Brown was born July 2, 1926 to Anna Mae Chennault Brown and Roy Lee Brown In Terrell, Texas. He grew up in Dallas, TX, graduating from North Dallas High School. He was drafted at 18 years old, serving 2 ½ years in the European Theatre (Patton’s Third Army), World War Two In the US Army, as Master Sergeant. He was involved in the liberation of two concentration Camps. He returned to Dallas and went to SMU, where he met the love of his life Sherry Royster.
After attending and graduating from Baylor Dental College, they married, and began a successful Dentistry practice that lasted for over 37 years. He and Sherry had 3 children Penny, Vicky and Terry. He was an honored member of the faculty at Baylor College ( Now Texas A&M) of Dentistry for 47 years, after retiring several times, finally retiring as Professor Emeritus. Bill then worked for 10 years ( and had a wonderful fun filled time) at Oriental Rug with his best friends the Amirkhan Family. He was a founder and also an active member in Northaven Methodist Church for many years along with his beloved wife, Sherry.
Bill loved his place at Lake Texoma, Preston Fishing Camp/The Lighthouse for over 50 years, and spent lots of time entertaining family and friends, summer after summer. He loved to travel and took his family on many vacations that he planned out to perfection (just like his grandmother did for him). Many family trips, and in later years, were taken with the Jaeckles and the Amirkans all over the world. His favorite hobby was making jewelry for his family and friends. He also loved to cook and as soon as Sherry retired from cooking, he took over with a passion and a high level of expertise that put smiles on many faces. The family could not go anywhere, without patients, students coming up to him to say hello to Dr. Brown, or Bill and he always enjoyed talking to them. When he moved to Presbyterian Village North, he would continue to run into patients, colleagues and friends all the time , and always with a big friendly “Hello”. He was very active at PVN all during the years it was home to Bill & Sherry . Bill had a wonderful life and he will be missed by the many that he touched. He especially cherished his grandkids, and great grandkids. He was a wonderful Father, Father-In-law, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and friend to many, generous beyond words. We want to thank all the Caregivers at PVN and AppleCare/Honor for their loving care as well as the wonderful staff during his brief stay at Boone T Pickens Hospice Hospital
