Billy M. Foster's Obituary
Our beloved Billy Foster, 85 years young, resident of Mesquite, Texas passed away September 24,2019. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Paula Wilson Foster and Octavia Gough Foster, his brother Franklin E. “Buzz” Foster, and his sisters Melva Jean Green and Nelda Grant. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Foster Patterson and son, Wilson Foster and his beloved dog Tipsy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended families.Bill grew up in the country and had a love for horses, cattle and farm crops. Bill was a cowboy and rode horses in rodeo parades. He actually turned down the opportunity to travel with a group that performed the “Square Dance on Horseback” at major rodeos all over the country. In school he was an honor student. His career as an accountant was served in the oil industry, He had the opportunity to retire at age 50. This gave him the opportunity to spend quality time with his dear wife, Paula and their shared passion of African Violets and wood working. in 1990, Bill was appointed to Chairman of the African Violets Society of America (AVSA) Shows and Judges Committee. Bill served as president of AVSA from 1999 to 2001. He was awarded with the Honorary Life Certificate. However, he was most proud of his Distinguished Service Award which was presented to him as an Admiral of the Great Navy of Nebraska signed and sealed by Governor Mike Johnson. Also, in 2010 he was inducted into the AVSA Hall of Fame. He continued to attend as many AVSA conventions as possible throughout his life.In addition to his family, he was surrounded and blessed by so many dear friends that he cherished. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Now he will be reunited with his bride and childhood sweetheart, Paula of 48 years, that he missed immensely.Visitations will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home.Services will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Restland at 11:00 am, address: 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.In lieu of flowers you may donate to AVSA @ avsa.org and donate to the Tinari Endowment Fund.
