Birdie Bell (Bedford) Thompson's Obituary
THOMPSON, BIRDIE BELL (WARNER) born June 18, 1907 in Runge, TX and passed away July 10, 2010 in Dallas, TX. Birdie Warner Bedford Thompson passed away Saturday morning at the C.C. Young unit of Blanton Gardens in Dallas. Mrs. Thompson, a mild mannered Christian lady, lived just a few days past her 103rd birthday. Born June 18, 1907 in Runge, TX, she was greatly loved. God blessed Birdie Bell with four wonderful sons: Lee A. Bedford, of Montgomery, TX; Robert Bedford of Little Rock, AR; Lance Bedford of Dallas, TX; and Tom Bedford of Kent, WA. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. These brought much joy to her life. Mrs. Thompson graduated from high school in Runge and attended the Southwest Texas University in San Marcus, TX. She held membership in a number of United Methodist Churches in Dallas county. Birdie was a prolific oil painter, specializing in Bluebonnets. The quiet spoken artist’s work graced homes throughout the Dallas area. Her work was realistic and took many awards in art clubs she attended. Mrs. Thompson’s paintings will continue blessing the homes of those who purchased her work or were fortunate to receive them as gifts. Though shy, Birdie loved to sing. Given a nice alto voice, she used it to lead hymns for her Sunday school class, sing solos and duets. With a terrific “green thumb” her yard showed evidence of her love for flowers. Mrs. Thompson took pride in caring for her own yard for many years. Services will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Restland Memorial Chapel with interment following in Restland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Tuesday at Restland Funeral Home.
