David Whitten
Byron & I met when his family came to Levelland. Joe Whitten, my father, was the Minister of Music at 1st Baptist in Levelland. He possessed a great sense of humor coupled with a prize-winning smile. Later, I learned he has lived in the Dallas area for many years. Sadly, I tried to go see him, but this did not materialize. Bryon & I shared a love of photography. We studied photography under the masterful eye of Don Stroud at South Plain College. I recall Byron showing me how to use a flash bounce shot in the gasoline station where I worked. He also joined our garage band in the city park in Levelland. He was full of mischief. In fact, you could see it in his eyes before he did something. God broke the mold when he made Byron. I've never ever met anyone else like him. I have so many stories, but these deserve more time & space than this memorial will allow. I've never known him to be hurtful, hateful or mean to others. He approached life with a healthy sense of humor, one of his most endearing qualities. See ya later Bryon. We can jam in Heaven. I will bring my Les Paul.
