Carl Roy Anderson's Obituary
Carl Roy Anderson passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on August 19, 2024. He was at home with Cathy and daughter Rachel at his side and they got to witness his last breath. A holy moment.
Carl was a beloved pastor for over 30 years and had the heart of a shepherd for those of his flock. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with ThM and PhD degrees. His first pastorate was with Trinity Fellowship Church of Richardson TX and lasted 27 years. He later helped start Grace Redeemer Community Church in 2012 and pastored there 4 more years until his health interfered. Carl’s preaching and shepherding were life changing for many.
Well versed in the scriptures, Carl had a heart for teaching them beyond the church setting. He taught an early morning bible study on Fridays near the Park Cities area for 20 years or more. Carl led a Tuesday night bible study for 13 years in the home of Robert and Maggie Murchison. He held a mid-week bible study several years at Church of the Incarnation as well. For a couple semesters Carl taught upper level Hebrew at Dallas Theological Seminary. He led three trips to Israel and a Reformation tour through Germany and Switzerland. Carl wrote the study notes for the Holman Christian Bible on the books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther. He was a natural at explaining the scriptures.
Carl was faithfully married to Cathy for 46 years. Their wedding anniversary was exactly one week prior to his passing and the Lord gifted Cathy that day with Carl’s few last moments of lucidity. Their marriage had cruises, ballroom dancing, and annual vacations to Colorado. And of course those six precious children that were all difficult to come by. Sons Martin and David. Daughters Hope, Grace, Rachel and Cara. Carl would proudly tell strangers about his two sets of twins. He dearly loved his family and was a great daddy to them all. Carl’s goal of seeing all his kids graduate college was realized a year before his passing and he was able to attend all their graduations. Mission accomplished.
Carl is survived by his sister Carol. His brother went to be with the Lord over 2 years ago and surely Carl is rejoicing to see Bobby again. His dear parents Eva and Roy are there to welcome him as well. Safely home.
The memorial service for Carl will be held at Restland’s Memorial Chapel at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The service will also be live streamed and recorded for others to view at their convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can
be made to the Salvation Army (Carl’s grandparents were both officers in that) or to the church Carl helped to establish, Grace Redeemer Community Church at 4230 W. Buckingham Rd. Garland, TX 75042.
