AIA Inland Califoria Chapter purchased the Fairest of All for the family of Carl D. Atkins.
As the current President of the American Institute of Architects Inland Chapter, we wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family. Carl was an amazing person and a devoted supporter of our chapter for many years. His kind disposition and sense of humor were some of his greatest attributes. I fondly remember one of our chapter events being held at Timely. The company set us all up to do the Harlem Shake and there was Carl leading the way! The world was a better place because of Carl, and he will be greatly missed. David Higginson, AIA President, AIAIC
As a brother to my wonderful sister Janice, I can honestly say that Carl was the best thing that ever happened to her. God could not have engineered a better brother-in-law or husband. Our family was always comfortable in knowing that, above all else, Carl made sure Janice was always safe, sound and comfortable. Although he came from a bleak and unassuming childhood – and maintained that inner character throughout his life – he achieved great things and gained the utmost respect and honor from his peers and family. Appreciative of everything that he worked so hard to accomplish, including the marriage to Janice, the love of his life, he never escaped his humble beginnings. Carl went above and beyond to do the absolute best job possible in every human interaction he encountered. Business relationships, his livelihood and sustenance, were top priority – second only to his love and care for his wife, Janice. His commitment to Timely and respect for its leadership was over the top. I sincerely hope Carl is a long lived legend at his former, beloved workplace, because he has already established that status in my family's legacy. Thanks for being here and setting a benchmark for the rest of us to follow Carl… And thank you for the gentle, loving care you gave my sister Janice. We all miss you dearly and will love you always. I had the pleasure of getting to know Carl for the past 10 years. Carl was the type of person you ultimately strive to become. He was considerate, thoughtful, genuine, professional, humble, inquisitive, and plenty of other positive things you want to be both professionally and personally, but what really made him stick out was he also kept his own brand of sometimes quirky and funny personality that can only belong to someone as unique as him. He never backed down from a task that seemed to go nowhere, and often persevered somehow, someway. It made for great stories and learning experiences for everyone that was involved. I get to pass one job sight everyday and think of him, and the way he made an impossible proposition into something positive as well as humorous on how he accomplished it, dirty job site shoes and all! I will miss him dearly. I have so many awesome memories with him, as does almost everyone that he knew! My condolences to his family and especially Janice, whom I hope to still share my stories with, both of the past and of the future. Stephen DeBoi
