Carole Jean, as we called her, was blessed with some dear friends in our neighborhood as we all grew up together. The picture is of 4 of the many children who lived on Cedar Crest in Garland. We four were very close, especially Margaret and Carole Jean. Carole Jean was called Big Carol and I was called Little Carol. We spent all days playing outside mostly, as there was no air conditioning in our houses much in those days. Carole's mom and dad were dear to us. Melvin made up poems about all of us and would play with us. He and Carole really did love all the cats. They took in some of our kittens. Carole and I double dated in High School with two brothers, Ted and Kenny. She attended our church youth rallies with us, where she gave her heart to Jesus Christ. I got to visit her in the past year, and we had a wonderful time. She will be sorely missed, but we will be reunited again someday in Heaven, with no more broken hips or illness. "What a day that will be."
