Twelve years ago Carolyn help me train Junior , my then 11-month-old rescued golden retriever. Eventually , with Carolyn’s support and encouragement, both Junior and I learned how to grow as a team through his wild childhood. Along the way, Carolyn became my friend. Carolyn would often joke with me that when Junior showed up at a party,”he’d be the one with the lamp shade on his head.” As usual, she got the spirit of a “teenage”Golden retriever.
But Junior and I eventually learned patience and we became a successful therapy team and went on to work with children and adults in mental health settings, libraries, and other facilities as a team. Today Junior and I are both retired. He is a now a grey muzzled 13-year-old retired therapy dog. We both still remember the life lessons and love Carolyn gave us.
Our family will always be grateful for Carolyn‘s love, dedication and great patience with both me and Junior as he became a healing presence in so many lives. For us and so many others, this is Carolyn‘s legacy which will continue for years for the people and animals her grace and kindness touched. She is irreplaceable in our hearts and those of our animals.
