Carolyn Ann (Wilson) Marr's Obituary
Our precious mother, Carolyn Ann, age 76, was called home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2021. Born on August 29, 1945 in Santa Barbara, CA, her family returned to Dallas when she was an infant. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard T. Wilson and Delma A. Wilson (Schaal). She is survived by her only child, Corey Marr and wife Brenda, of Dallas and many cousins in the surrounding area. She was employed at Terrell State Hospital for almost 50 years in the Rehabilitation Department and in Medical Records. One of her major accomplishments was the establishment of an in-house, full-time Animal Assisted Therapy program in the 90’s long before inpatient treatment centers adopted this practice. In later years, she would serve as the co-founder of New Leash on Life Therapy Animal Group (now Pet Partners of Greater Dallas) with her beloved Dolly followed by the always spunky Gabby. She believed in the healing powers of animals and dedicated her life to that cause serving as an animal evaluator for over 30 years. Several of her programs have been featured in newspapers and magazines and she has also written articles for publication. Carolyn will always be remembered for her appreciation of all beings, her sweet demeanor, her contagious smile and her wonderful sense of humor. Following cremation, private graveside services will be held at Restland Memorial Park with Pastor Tom Schwolert officiating. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM a Celebration of Life service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1333 Belt Line, in Garland, TX where she had been a member for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (www.bestfriends. org) in Kanab, Utah.
