Carolyn Fair Chisholm's Obituary
DALLAS – Carolyn Ruth Fair Chisholm, 55, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010. Memorial Service: 10 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church of Dallas. A reception will follow. Private interment will be held at Restland of Dallas at 9220 Restland Road at Greenville Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a special fund will be set up in her name – more info forthcoming. Born December 24, 1954, in Dallas, TX, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Ruth Millicent Bowman Fair and the late Honorable John Roll Fair, a prominent Dallas judge. A gifted student, Carolyn attended the Greenhill School in Dallas where she was homecoming queen and a cheerleader. She attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. There she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s Degree of Education. Her teaching career spanned nearly three decades, including time in Bolivia, Arkansas, many years in Dallas at both Christ Lutheran on Lovers Lane and Bonham Elementary on Henderson Avenue. Very civically active, Carolyn worked tirelessly for many of Dallas’ oldest and most respected organizations including the Argyle Club, Dallas Woman’s Club, Dallas Junior League, La Fiesta de Las Seis Banderas, Lyceum Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, and the Park Cities Historical Society. Carolyn loved traveling the world, especially in the company of her three beloved sons. A selfless mother, she worked very hard to support and encourage her sons throughout their lives. She was known by her family and friends for her kind-heartedness, her delightful sense of humor, and her passion for life. When she laughed, her eyes would light up like stars, and you instantly wanted to laugh with her. Carolyn would always say, “Laughter is good medicine in any dose”. SURVIVORS: Her sons Frank Wellborn Chisholm Jr., John Preston Chisholm, William Bowman Chisholm, her dog Scotty, her extended family, and many beloved friends.
