Mrs. Carolyn M. Harris' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Milligan Harris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Carolyn was born on April 20, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to her loving parents, Dorothy and Gene Milligan. She peacefully left this world, surrounded by her family on September 22, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.
Carolyn's life was defined by love, family, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. She was married to the love of her life, Sam O. Harris, with whom she recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Their partnership was an enduring testament to the strength of their bond and an inspiration to her family.
As a mother, Carolyn was the heart of her family. She leaves behind three cherished daughters: Joanie Gill, Pamela Weber (Todd), and Susan Figiel (Mike). Her love and guidance helped shape their lives, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire them.
Carolyn was an adoring grandmother to Matt Tatum, Bill Weber, Maddie Weber, and Michael Figiel. Her great-grandson, Sam Tatum, brought her immeasurable joy and laughter. Her family was her greatest source of pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sisters, Jan Ensminger (Cliff) and Shirley Milligan. Carolyn's family was at the center of her world, and she now joins those who have gone before her in eternal rest. Carolyn's life was filled with rich experiences and passions. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1957, laying the foundation for a life of curiosity and learning. She was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, and an adventurous world traveler, sailing the Caribbean with her husband for four years which were some of the best days of her life. Carolyn's green thumb graced gardens with beauty wherever she went, and her love of music and art enriched the lives of those around her.
Throughout her lifetime, Carolyn and Sam cultivated lasting friendships that spanned over six decades. These cherished relationships were a testament to her warm and welcoming nature. Her circle of friends will deeply miss her presence and the joy she brought into their lives. Her legacy of love, kindness, and grace will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 12 at 2:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home’s Wildwood Chapel.
