Charlene Yates was born on December 4th, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, to Charles and Vina Yates. She passed away in her home on October 11th, 2017, due to natural causes.Charlene resided in Dallas for most of her life, although she had recently relocated to Abilene, Texas, to be closer to her daughter’s family. Some of the things that she enjoyed most in life included spending time with her grandchildren, Emma and Patton, and seeing her daughter grow into a mother.She had a wonderful ‘dry’ sense of humor. She loved all animals. She enjoyed spending time antique shopping, taking care of her plants, and decorating her home with family memorabilia and antiques. She had a very thoughtful, kind and giving heart.She is survived by her daughter, Michaela Smith; her son-in-law, Holland Smith; granddaughter, Emma Smith; grandson, Patton Smith; sisters, Solveig Gustafson and Barbara Rassofsky; great-aunt, Viola Board; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.She is preceded in death by her mother, Vina Yates; her father, Charles Yates; and her brothers, Michael Yates and Lawrence Yates.A memorial service will be held at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
