Granddad was one of a kind! From nothing to hero. He swept Grandma off his feet as a lifeguard and went off to the Navy. He transferred over to the Airforce and made a nice long career for himself. He was going to head to American Airlines to be a pilot, but once again defeated the odds at the last minute to become an officer and complete a full career in the Airforce. He dabbled in being a realtor and was an avid golfer belonging to Brookhaven Country Club. He loved to ask how my car was doing and was always concerned about the miles on my car. Our phone calls never lasted more than 10 minutes as they were frequent. He loved his family and they were important to him. He always made time for them even if that meant changing his routine which was a sacrifice for him. He would share his calendar with me and show me how he followed what he did last year for this year. We had many vacations shared with them and family reunions that Grandma would be the chairwoman / CEO for as he would call it. Miss you granddad!
