Charles Albert Maples' Obituary
Maples, Charles Albert was born on September 2, 1930 in Dallas, TX passed away August 19, 2014 in Plano, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Agnes R. Maples; brother, Dr. William Maples; aunt, Charlotte Bliss. Charels is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Cooper Maples; daughter, Pamela Maples Craig, Glenn of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Major William Curtis Maples, USMC; Lisa of Bogata, TX; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Smith, Josh of Bellaire, TX, Caitlin Craig, fiance’ Cpt. Matthew Oetken USAF of Mary Esther, FL, Tyler Maples of Tyler, TX. Charles graduated in 1953 from SMU with his BS while lettering in Pole Vaulting and being a member of Delta Chi fraternity. He was then commisioned to the USAF. He then served for 25 yrs with DISD, and served an additional 11 yrs. with RISD then retired to enjoy golfing, cruises, snow skiing and spending time with family and friends. He has touched a tremendous amount of lives throughout his educational career. He will be missed by many. The visitation for Charles will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home followed by a service at 12:30 PM at The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the ICU unit at Medical Center of Plano.
