C.D. will be sorely missed at Bethel Lutheran Church, Our bible study class will have an empty chair for him. He was the' life of the party' to all of us. What a Christian! He loved to banter and we loved him for it.
Well over 30 years ago, C.D. helped me to become oriented to Dallas. He was a person who cared for his family and his church. i valued his friendship over the years with his readiness to laugh and spread the joy of life. C.D. was a "faithful" man and a "faith filled" man of God. I valued his friendship. My prayer for those who will miss him most is that they remember that C.D. is with the Lord…..no more suffering and pain. He enjoys the fruits of his labors with the constant presence of His Lord. I will remember Mr. Smith as a funny and down to earth man. I remember him telling me, " What are you going to do for me besides make me late for poker"! As a nurse, I knew he wasn't being mean but wanted to maintain his daily routine. Despite the duty that was placed on me as his nurse, I will miss his smile and great sense of humor the most. I had the privilege of coaching a Pop Warner football team with CD for two years in the '80's. He was a thoughtful, gentle man who loved his family and treated every young player on those teams as special and important. Without being asked, he did all the little things that made a big impact on the experience of the young men entrusted to his service. I think all those young men would echo the sentiment that their life was truly enriched by being around him. Being around CD was a blessing for me and for both my sons. I know God has a special place for men like him.
Peaceful White Lilies Basket was purchased for the family of Charles Dudley Smith.
C D & Vi were long time active members of our Sunday Morning Bible Class. C D was a ball and raised provocative and challenging questions and frequently added delightful humor for the class. Please keep the family in your prayers and thoughts. May God rest C D's soul in peace until the final resurrection day. May God bless the family doing this time. gene rummel
