Some of the best things about visiting with Charles at home (and on the phone too) were listening to the mountains of wonderful stories he would tell! He talked about his life, his family, his teaching experiences, his travels, Texas history and geography, cooking in cast-iron pans, and driving with Richard! All were told with great thought, detail, and attention to education. A lot were told with humor and even library references! I was honored to be thought of as a friend to him and his dear partner Richard. I am so grateful to have been introduced to both of them by my partner Les.
