Charlotte Ann Leslie's Obituary
Charlotte Ann Leslie was born on June 11, 1968 in Rome NY. She moved to Texas at age 17 and got a job with Ericson. Charlotte married Doug Leslie on 5/31/97. Charlotte had their only child, Adam on 1/19/2001. Around 2003 Charlotte starting working in Mothers Day out programs, first at Prestonwood Baptist as a teacher, then moving to First Baptist Richardson where she worked as Assistant Director of the First Kids program for 15 years. Also during her time at FBCR, Charlotte worked as the Sunday School Coordinator for preschool. Her husband Doug worked beside her as a kindergarten SS teacher for 10 years.
Charlotte left FBCR in November of 2018. God had big plans for her- after Doug’s mom passed away in early 2019, Charlotte moved in with Doug’s Dad and diligently took care of him till his passing in Dec, 2019.
The Lord led Charlotte to The Learning Academy at FUMC Garland where she served as the Director of the Learning Academy until Covid closed it down . Lastly working for DAPE at Garland Methodist. ALL of Charlottes co-workers and supervisors agree- Her hearts desire was working together with children and families. “ Charlotte’s commitment to excellence and kindness shown thru without wavering, and she never gave anyone less than the best. “
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents David DeRuby and Diana Page. Charlotte is survived by her Husband, Douglas Leslie, her son Adam, her step son Chris and step daughter Katie, 3 step grandchildren, as well as 3 brothers, Michael DeRuby, James DeRuby and Ron Hunt ; 2 sisters Jackie Roush and Patty Dorfer, and many nieces and nephews. Her last supervisor said this- “ Charlottes kindness and desire to learn new things and find new ways to help people without needing applause or attention stayed consistent all the time I knew her”.
