Charmayne Anita Rolla's Obituary
Charmayne Anita Rolla, 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on January 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with Dementia.
Charmayne was born on June 12, 1941, and was the only child of James and Thelma Rolla. After Charmayne graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee A&I State University in Nashville, TN and later obtained her Master of Arts degree in Education from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
Charmayne began her career as a teacher and coach at Leighton High in Leighton, Alabama. She went on to work as a coach, a teacher or a counselor at numerous schools within Dallas Independent School District including Bouda Storey Jr. High, W.H. Adamson High School, Woodrow Wilson High School, L.G. Pinkston High School and H. Grady Spruce High School. In retirement, Charmayne enjoyed working as a stadium attendant for Dallas Independent School District.
Charmayne was a big-hearted, spirited and joyous soul who offered all she encountered a bright smile, warm engagement and an infectious laugh. She was a vivacious spectator of sports, particularly track and field, basketball and football and she was an avid dog lover.
Charmayne was predeceased by her father, James Rolla, her mother, Thelma Rolla, and several fur-babies including Candy, Ocie and Buttercup among others. She is survived by her goddaughter, Mrs. Chamar Littlejohn (Mancil Littlejohn Jr.), and two grand-godsons, Lóren Littlejohn and Læsio Littlejohn, and a vast range of associates, friends, sorors, colleagues and acquaintances from childhood, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Dallas Independent School District, St. Paul United Methodist Church and the broader DFW community.
Services will be held on Thursday February 1, 2024, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1816 Routh St. Dallas, Texas 75201. The Viewing will be at 11 am and the Funeral Service at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church’s Walk Over Wednesday program or Music Ministry.
