Cheryl Kay Grandt Luerssen of Plano, Texas, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was born in Centralia, Illinois, February 22, 1944, to Norman and Audree Grandt. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, No Read Obituary
I didn’t hear about Mrs. Luerssen’s death until a month had passed. She was a very special mentor, confidant and teacher to my daughter, Liz Freeny. In fact, she was the first one to see her newborn on June 20, 1997 at the hospital! Every student needs someone like Mrs. Luerssen. She was a very special person and teacher.
Cheryl and I attended Centralia Township High School together. She was very bright and industrial, and she was someone with whom I emailed/exchanged information over the years. Cheryl was an enthusiastic teacher.
I am sorry to hear of Cheryl’s death. I enjoyed being her hall-mate in Allen. We enjoyed many a dinner after school…usually Tex-Mex. Together we solved most of Allen High Schools problems. She loved to talk about her family…about her kids and her Houston family. I know you will miss her.
