Cheryl Kay Grandt Luerssen's Obituary
Cheryl Kay Grandt Luerssen of Plano, Texas, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was born in Centralia, Illinois, February 22, 1944, to Norman and Audree Grandt. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Audree Grandt and her husband, Richard Luerssen.On March 21, 1964, she married Richard Werner Luerssen. To this union was born one son, Richard Werner Luerssen, Jr. (Trey) of Encino, California and one daughter, Kimberly Grandt Luerssen Jackson of The Colony, Texas. Also surviving are a future daughter-in-law, Cat Pojas and a son-in-law, Vernon Jackson; and two granddaughters, Keira and Kenzie Jackson.She also leaves one sister, Phyllis Ringer and brother-in-law, Stuart Ringer; one nephew, Steven Ringer and Fiancé Tate Parsons; one niece, Tiffany Harrison and husband Brandon Harrison; four great nieces, Riley and Drew Harrison and Emma and Olivia Ringer; and 11 cousins.Cheryl attended DePauw in Greencatle, Indiana, the University of Texas at Austin, SMU and UTD where she received a degree in Historical Studies. She went on to get her Masters in Education at Texas A&M Commerce.Cheryl worked for 20+ years as a teacher at Allen High School. She taught AP Art History (her passion), as well as AP European History, World History, Film and Society, Psychology and Economics.Visitation for Cheryl will be at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery Tuesday, November 28, from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29th, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1707 E. Park Blvd, Plano, Texas. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas
