My Grandma was the most obedient and faithful Christian woman I personally knew. Her lifestyle, words and deeds were demonstrations of her strong character, and a true example of goodness and she had influence on many. There is not a single person in my extended friends and family who was not positively affected and inspired by Gram's loving, welcoming, proper and always lady-like personality. God has blessed me and my family and friends by allowing her presence in our lives and hearts. She will be remembered often and missed. When I was very young, visiting from my home way in Massachusetts to see my favorite Grandma, the one and only family member to regularly come to New England, to help where she could, help clean the place up in orderly fashion and I'd be my hyper, excited self, doing everything she told me as my whole outlook would improve, refreshing me with needed adult attentions and instruction, and everyday with her there was a happy and hopeful time. One trip my mother Patricia Darlene, sister Cybele and I made to Texas around 1975 or '76, Grandma bent over to look me in the eyes and she smiled and asked confidently "Brenna, Are you bored?" I nodded affirmatively in my exaggerated, hyperactive nature probably with fingers to my mouth, habitually biting my nails and cuticles raw) and listened expectantly for her suggestion. Grandma smiled more broadly, and as she gestured her arm with a come-hither movement , inviting me forward and becoming me to follow her she winked and said enthusiastically, "Well then, Get on Board!" She'd laugh knowingly and I'm not sure when I picked up on the humorously presented lesson she impressed onto me, but I've never forgotten this lesson. Learning to practice it everyday, that's still in the works. I have many more stories and lessons to share that were passed down from my dear Grandma. Our relationship was deeper and closer than we shared with others. I lived in her home off and on from 1984 until last fall 2015. We spent much time together, taking care of one another and it definitely went both ways. I am honored to have had such a sweet lady as my grandmother. She told me in a lucid state last fall to go from there and be free, that she knew it wasn't where I was supposed to be. Not that she didn't want me there…but she knew… She knew. And God knows. And I thank God that he is the ultimate judge and Grandma will be rewarded for her faith and love of Christ. Yes, God will see that Christ is glorified by Grandma in death, as he was by her life. May the Spirit come to all who read this, to empower and enlighten any who have, or have not, felt the Holy Spirit's presence before, to comfort all who grieve and to cheer all to joy , in the knowledge that Mrs. Claudia LaVera Hunt is happily resting peacefully, awaiting the glorious heavenly reunion for which she is surely destined. With love and sincerity, Brenna Adele Thomas Rasmussen
