The brief time I knew Corbin he represented a kind, gentle and very intelligent nature that was endearing. I am praying for all the family and especially Greg and Jennifer. May God's Love give you strength and fill the emptiness with fond memories. With Love, Gail Kennedy
Greg and Jennifer I am truly heartbroken for your loss. I am praying for you and your family. May God bless Corbin and your entire family Trey Magee
I was one of Corbin's many debate judges. Corbin was a unique talent. I will miss seeing the greatness he would have achieved, and the world is worse off for his passing. But his memory lives in the judges whose weekends he made more bearable, the students he mentored, and the memories of his competitors. Though we'll never again get the chance to chat about Zizek and impact turns, hopefully some brash young kid will express an interest at the tournament so fittingly named in his honor; we could all use another Corbin in our lives. Just last week I was telling some friends of mine who wanted to learn about the various circuits the story about the time he got stuck in UIL Extemp because of the Sunday Rule. I'm in the back of the room with two of my friends judging the round. He paced across the room making repetitive hand gestures in what I can only assume was a parody of the Extemp speaking style, and tried to impact his topic – which was not remotely related to military policy – to nuclear war. And he still got a top-2 score because he made the best speech in the room. OK, partly because it was a good speech and partly because his judges wanted to make him compete at UIL Regionals. Corbin made me proud of our shared activity and my role in it – particularly whatever limited role I've had in helping great minds like his develop. If at all possible, I'll judge his tournament – judging a round for the first time in two years – and vote up an undercovered poststructuralist K shell I don't understand, for old times' sake.
