Cynthia S. Eggert, 66, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at her home in Garland, Texas (TX) following a short illness.
Cindy was born on July 29, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert and Harriett Eggert. She grew up in Florissant, Missouri and graduated from McCluer Senior High School.
From 1972 – 1976, Cindy attended Southwest Missouri (MO) State University, Springfield, MO. She graduated with a B.S. in Medical Technology and became a registered Medical Technologist (ASCP) working the night shift at St John’s Medical Center in Springfield, MO. In 1980, she moved to Dallas, TX , where she was a staff technologist in the Chemistry Laboratory at Parkland Memorial Hospital. From 1983-2010, she served in multiple supervisory roles including the team lead for the implementation of the Cerner Millenium Laboratory Information System. Cindy then assumed the position of Clinical Laboratory Specialist for Lab Central in December, 2010. After 35 plus years of providing quality laboratory healthcare for the residents of Dallas County, Cindy retired December, 2015.
In retirement, Cindy continued to serve her community by volunteering. She had a skill for stocking and organizing supplies which she used at the Network of Community Ministries Food Pantry, Richardson, TX. She loved to work in her yard and was known for growing plants and beautiful flowers. Those skills led her to volunteer work at Garden Ministries. She was also a member and volunteer with the Dallas Arboretum.
During her working and retirement days, Cindy loved to socialize with her coworkers and friends. She belonged to Texins scuba diving club, dance groups and played on slow pitch softball teams. Through the years, she was a familiar face at many celebrations and get togethers. She always looked forward to her birthday party. Cindy was a member of the Parkland Retiree Organization (PROs) and a monthly Breakfast Club.
Cindy is survived by her brother Jay Eggert of San Diego, CA, her niece Jennifer McNeill Johnson, great-nephews Rhone and Cassady Johnson, and her cat, Patches. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lyn Eggert Burke and her brother Jeffrey.
