Darrell Douglas Elliott's Obituary
Doug Elliott, born in San Angelo, TX on October 15, 1970, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 16.
After attending Lake View High School in San Angelo, Doug worked with his uncle and grandpa learning the ropes of the air conditioning business as well as studying HVAC at Eastfield College. He was hardworking and skillful spending the majority of his career working for Lennox, first in Dallas, then in Louisiana and finishing his career in Houston totaling more than 20 years and receiving several awards and promotions for his accomplishments. In addition, Doug was venturesome, he owned and operated The Outpost in Winnsboro for about 5 years.
Doug was honorable and community oriented, serving on the City Council in Winnsboro and being a driving force in the implementation of Meth Watch in his community to help combat drug abuse.
Doug was persistent, for example, while working full-time and raising his children, Doug completed his Bachelor of Science from The University of Phoenix in Business Administration in 2018.
Doug was a man of God, having been baptized in the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro. He was faithful, serving in both the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro and Cypress Oaks Church in Cypress, TX.
He was responsible, providing a comfortable life for his wife and children. He was reliable, always helpful, and available for those he loved, and sometimes even those he only kind of loved. He was personable, having a wide circle of friends who were captivated by his playful and charming personality. Doug was considerate and patient: he listened intently to others and had a true sense of compassion for their situations, always trying to make the lives of others easier, without expecting anything in return.
Doug was a man of character, well-respected and loved by so many. He was a leader in his family, taking an active role each year in planning and ensuring a successful Nichols family reunion.
His best accomplishment was his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and family member to so many who will cherish his memory. He was incredibly proud of his daughter for serving her country in the US Army and his son for being a part of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University.
Doug is survived by his wife Colleen Kelly Elliott, his daughter, Rachel Ann Elliott of Garland, TX, his son, Collin Douglas Elliott of College Station, his grandchildren Chace and Everly, his mother and father, Debbie and Charley, his sisters, Rhonda and Renee and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Gladis and Ben Nichols and his Uncle Wayland Nichols.
