David J. Hatch's Obituary
David J. Hatch, 65, of Richardson, Texas passed away June 29, 2010. He is predeceased by his parents, Emerson Hatch and Rowena Jackson Hatch Wilkinson. David is survived by his wife Valerie (nee’ Leigh); daughter Coleen Quarles, her husband David, and their children David Jr., Christian, Benjamin and Alison; son Garrett Hatch, his wife Rachael and their daughters Carolina and Audrey; sister Faye Hoot; in-laws Gene and Beverly Leigh, John Leigh and Meredith Minier; and many nieces and a nephew. David was a 1963 graduate of Albion Central High School, and is remembered as the starting Sophomore quarterback for the Varsity football team. He received both his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Engineering from Syracuse University. He began his work experience at Kodak in Rochester, then Agway in both Syracuse and Harrisburg. After moving to Texas in the late 1970’s, his engineering expertise was put to work revitalizing downtown Austin Littlefield Building and new construction of One American Center and First City Center. David was a volunteer coach for all variety of sports for both his children. His friends as well as the community benefitted from his engineering knowledge. His love of history and trivia has carried on through the generations of family, aviation and World War II being of special interest. He loved jigsaw puzzles, mind puzzles and telling jokes. He also enjoyed watching his beloved Syracuse Orangemen play sports on TV. A memorial service will be held in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery on Monday, July 5, at 3:00.
