David Forrest Wallace's Obituary
David Forrest Wallace, 71, of The Colony, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2025. Born on October 1, 1953 in Midland, Texas, to Menta Forest Wallace and Kathryn Marie Wallace, David lived a life full of love, dedication, kindness and fun.
David grew up playing little league and basketball. He spent summers in Rockport, Texas where his dad taught him to fish - which was one of his favorite things to do to this day. He bragged about pestering and championing his brother and sisters and about getting by with as much mischief as he could with his parents. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, TX in 1972 and got his HVAC Technician certificate from TSTI in Waco. He worked for Walker Refrigeration in Midland before venturing to the Dallas area to pursue various opportunities. Most of his career included nightclub management and Fleet Manager at David McDavid Lincoln. After retirement, he continued to excel in Customer Service at Home Depot in The Colony where he could talk to people, tell stories about fishing and give crappie fishing tips, and brag about his kids and grandkids. At home he loved to watch classic westerns, tell stories about crazy customer requests at work, and was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan! And his family finally converted him into a Dallas Stars fan.
David married the love of his life, Pat Blackmon, on November 15, 2013. Their union was a testament to their deep affection and unwavering support for each other. They believed they had found the person they wanted to annoy for the rest of their lives, and it worked very well. Together they made a home that was always full of family and spent their time visiting and loving those who loved them. The walls and shelves in their home are covered in memories they made together doing just that.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Wallace; his father, Menta Wallace; his nephew, Ryan Morris; his nephew, Jason Morris; and his great-niece, Hartley Hearne.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Wallace; son, Mike Wallace, wife, Forest, granddaughters, Lynnley and Laney; daughter, Lacie Rose; son, Kyle Wallace, wife, Jessica, grandsons, Hudson and Hayden, granddaughter, Harper;
stepdaughters, Tracy Blackmon, Jamie Blackmon (Brad), granddaughter, Daisy; stepson, Chris Blackmon, wife, Ashley; brother Steve Wallace, wife, Jo Linda, nephews Brandon (wife Gabriel), Blaine; sisters Caryn Morris, husband, Allen, niece, Amy Hearne (Scott); Susan Stevens, husband Bob, nephews, JD Stevens (Shelby), Justin Stevens (Katie), niece, Jeanie Russell (Matt); numerous great nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
David had a large presence with a gruff and tough exterior. He was loveably infuriating and playful and an avid practical joker. Underneath it all he had a deep love for his family and his dogs (and everyone else's), and loved to be a hero to anyone in need. He was a fierce and loyal friend and the best grandpa. He will be forever remembered by those who knew him as the big tough teddy bear he was, holding a "Coors Light in a bottle" - ice cold. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that his family and friends will forever hold in their hearts. He will be celebrated for the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of so many.
An open visitation will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, June 3rd at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel in Dallas, Texas, with services to begin at 2 p.m.
A reception following services will take place at 3 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home's Event Center in Dallas, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Wednesday, June 4th, at Ellis Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. With a reception to follow gravesides services, on site.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hart of Gold foundation, a non-profit for childhood cancer in honor of his great niece, Hartley. Donations may be made at Www.hartofgold.org
