Deborah Liljequist Batson's Obituary
BATSON, DEBORAH (LILJEQUIST) Deborah Batson of Oklahoma City entered heaven to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2011. Born January 26, 1954, to Frances and Gunnar Liljequist in Houston, Texas, she was preceded in death by her father Gunnar and her husband Robert C. Batson. After graduating from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark., she spent most of her adult life in Arkansas, Tennessee and Missouri, most recently settling in Oklahoma, where she was Associate State Director for The Nature Conservancy. Her personal life was filled with as much zeal as her career. Deborah’s gifts were abundant and her talent immeasurable. From singing to songwriting, poetry and words of wisdom, to cooking, jewelry making, and gardening, no muse escaped her ability. Deborah is survived by her daughter, Lee Batson (Dallas, Texas), her mother, Frances (Ada, Okla.), her three younger siblings: brother, K.C. Liljequist, (Ada, Okla.) and sisters, Amy Ballard (Harrison, Ark.) and Jill Clemence (Cuba, Mo.). Services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. Visitation will be from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossings Community Church of Oklahoma City (www.crossingsokc.org/) or the American Stroke Association (http://www.strokeassociation.org/STROKEORG/).
