Ms Delia Angelina Rivera's Obituary
Delia Angelina Cruz Rivera born on August 02, 1923, was just 1 week shy of her 99th birthday when she passed peacefully on Tuesday July 26, 2022.
Delia instilled tremendous family values and was a woman of great Catholic faith. She was one of the first Polio outbreak survivors in the 1920's. She shared her life through stories of working in the Billing Departments of Neiman-Marcus and Montgomery Ward for over 20 yrs. and was in Downtown Dallas during President Kennedy's visit in 1963. She also got her first driver's license at age 55. When the COVID Pandemic hit she recalled the Great Depression 1929-1939 and told stories of meal tickets and all she learned from those that suffered, not wanting to repeat the past.
Delia is preceded in death by her son Carlos and daughter Diana; her sisters Genevieve Tapia, Dora Shultis and Virginia Thompson; and her brother Tom Cruz. Delia is survived by her three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren, Michelle and Kenny Patterson with Thomas and Olivia in Carrollton, TX; Karissa and Isaac Gonzales with Andrea-Rose and Iris in Austin, TX; and Breigh Ann Roberts with Mariam and Natalie in Round Rock, TX; her sister Helen (Nena) Yglesias, her brothers George Cruz, Ray Cruz, and David Cruz.
As many of you know Delia's daughter Diana passed away last year and due to COVID restrictions the family was unable to have a service at that time, here is her remembrance:
Diana Marie Rivera Roberts born on January 29, 1952, passed away due to the Coronavirus on February 08, 2021 in Dallas, TX. She was a Godly woman that deeply loved her mother and her three daughters. Diana was kind to everyone she met and made numerous friends wherever she went.
Both Delia and Diana will be truly missed by all. Their final resting place is at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, TX near Carlos.
