Delores Ann Taylor's Obituary
Delores Ann Taylor was born to Ben and Myrtle Grubbs in Fort Worth, TX on February 19, 1941. Following a brave journey with oral cancer, she peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2020 at the age of 79.
Delores, known to all as "Dodie," is preceded in death by her father, Ben; her mother, Myrtle, and her brother, Tommy. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gary; their children, son, Larry of Dallas and daughter, Donna Wilkins and husband Gerald of Richardson; grandchildren, Blake Wilkins of Garland, and Chris Wilkins of Lubbock. She is also survived by her brother, Ron and wife Shirley of Rockwall, her brother Mike and wife Patricia of Tyler as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, all dear to her heart.
After marrying in 1959, Gary and Delores always resided in the Dallas metroplex, and raised their children in Garland. Delores always had a keen interest in anything history-related and became the family genealogist when she began tracing the family trees in the 1970s. Her families are forever indebted to her for the work she completed.
Delores’ life left an irrevocable mark on the hearts of many. She loved all people, always introducing herself and engaging everyone she met. She took an active role in her children’s upbringing, including scouting, PTA and sports clubs. In fact, she looked out for all children to make sure they felt included and protected, supporting many as a surrogate Mom. In her 79 years of life, she brought joy and love to all those around her. She particularly adored her grandchildren, who she enjoyed bragging about.
Delores accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and remained faithful to her Lord throughout her years. At this difficult time, her family is strengthened by knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior.
Delores’ family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Association and particularly, nurse Bill Burns for his hard work in keeping Delores comfortable in her last days.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9th, 2020 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Restland Funeral Home.
Service will be held on Monday, Aug. 10th, 2020 at 10:00am at the Memorial Chapel at the Restland Funeral Home.
If family and friends wish to send flowers, her favorite type were yellow roses. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
