Derrell Evans Myers Sr.'s Obituary
Derrell Evans Myers Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the age of 57. Derrell was born on Wednesday, June 11, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the late Curtis Gaston and Helen E. Myers. The fourth of nine children formally educated in Dallas, he received his high school diploma from W. T. White High School in 1977. After high school, Derrell went on to pursue his love for golf and entered into the workforce as an entrepreneur, starting Derrell Executive Car Service. He later became known as “Santa” when he established Yes, There is a Santa, Inc., in 1994, to spread Christmas joy to children who without him would have a joyless and toyless Christmas. Derrell was a charismatic, kind, humble man that loved his family, friends and golf more than anything. A man with a heart of gold and sense of humor that would leave you still smiling for days on end. His greatest joy in life was his family. He loved and cherished every moment with them. When you heard “behind the preposition at,” “you’re killing me people,” “COWBOYS,” “where’s golf?” or “are you tart?” you knew Derrell was in the room. Derrell had longtime clients, of which many became his close friends. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Myers, Derrell leaves to cherish his legacy son Derrell Evans Myers Jr, Daughter Helen A. Myers, Siblings: Charlesetta Muhammad, Cynthia Myers, Michael Myers, Gary Myers, Tony Myers, Connie Myers and Nancy Saddler, two grandchildren Cameron and Alexus, seventeen nieces and Nephews, eighteen great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
