Celebrating the Life of Desi Arnaz Lindsay Lee Tanner
Desi Arnaz Lindsay Lee Tanner was born to single mother Catherine Banks. In the city of Chicago November 19, 1952. Raised by stepfather Sidney Tanner alone side his brother Dennis Tanner, Dannie and Darnell Lee.
After graduation from Jean Baptist Du Sable High School in Chicago. And living a volatile lifestyle, years later in 1975 he enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard and was off to Fort Leonard Wood MO. serving the 2D Battalion Field Artillery. Once moving to Dallas and extending his enlistment and serving in Headquarters 3D Brigade 49 Armoured Division Texas Army National Guard before his Honorable Discharge with the rank of staff sergeant, with numerous awards and recognition.
In moving to Dallas and living of all places in Highland Park on Druid Ln and Preston Road, he found employment with the City of Dallas and found his way to the Dallas Library system where he met the love of his life Stephanie.
After a lengthy courtship, they married on the Island of Oahu in Honolulu. Having accepted Jesus Christ late in life in a very unbiblical way, the Spirit of God began to take a hold of Desi as they contemplated having children and bring them up in a biblical way, the Spirit of God had a member of FBCHP guide them here to the only church he has ever been a member of at that time.
With God guidance, he was hired by Dallas Marshal's office as a Public Service Officer and mover through the system as a Detention Service Officer, Quartermaster, Deputy Marshal, Senior Deputy Marshal, and a year as the Interim Chief, before retirement as a Senior Deputy Marshal in 2009.
He was responsible for program planning, project management including all training of sworn and not-sworn officers in defensive tactics, firearm training and qualification and instruct other law enforcement and non-law enforcement related topics and holds numerous other instructor's certifications as a certified state instructor.
Desi's Education background and professional qualifications include Rio Salado Community College, Tempe AZ, Police Science, Regional Police Academy, Arlington TX. Basic Peace Officer Course, Mountain View College, Dallas TX. Principles of Management, Eastfield College, Mesquite TX. Communication, Bill J Priest Institute, Small Business Services Non-commission Officers Academy, Fort Sill OK. State Certified Firearms, Defensive Tactic and Oleoresin Capsicum Instructure, Certified Beretta Armorer, Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, TCLEOSE Instructor, License to Carry Instructor (TDPS) J. Lee Foster School of Biblical studies, Member of Greater Life Church.
Desi was a total family man, loving all aspects of the family life.
Always believe in giving back he was active in his former church, Sunday School Instructor, Transportation ministry, Deacon, but also active in the community he lived in doing God's work making the neighborhood a better place live and being testimony of Jesus Christ.
His community involvement included: Chair Site Based Decision Making Committee. at George W. Truett Elementary DISD. Las Casas Neighborhood Association, Chair Truett Area Crime Watch Chair, Ferguson Road Initiative, Advisory Committed White Rock Area Plan appointed by Council Member for District 7 Carolyn Davis, East Dallas Seniors Coalition, Steering committee for the White Rock Hills Community Recreation Center and Park, Dallas PD Advisory Board to name a few
Dallas Police Northeast Division Nomination for the Darrell Wood Volunteer of the Year Award. Received Community Builder Award from Metropolitan Lodge No. 1182, A.F & A.M Dallas Texas. Numerous other awards from the Army National Guard, City of Dallas, and the Dallas Marshal's Office
Mr. Desi Arnaz Lindsay Lee Tanner is the author of the book My Historical Record that can be ordered on Amazon.
He is preceded in death by his mother Catherine Banks, and stepfather Sidney Tanner.
Desi's legacy lives on through his beloved wife Stephanie his two sons Quentin (Megan) Tanner, Adrian and (Jala) Tanner.
Grandsons; Adrian Tanner, Arenas Tanner, Torrence Tanner, Tyrston Tanner and Myles Tanner.

Mr. Tanner leaves behind loving family and lifelong friend Mildred Mckinney of Dallas, Texas. Family and friends are a true testimony to his Historical record.
