Dolores Snodgrass Booher's Obituary
Dolores Margaret Snodgrass Booher, 91, went to her heavenly home on September 27, 2015 at 3:08 a.m. after a courageous battle with a long, debilitating illness. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life; she had a firm belief in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She often commented she did not know how people got through life without faith. She was a devout Catholic; was devoted about attending mass; and was very active in the St. Rita Catholic Community. Dolores was born to the late Vital and Margaret Chaudoir on February 22, 1924 in Shorewood, Wisconsin. After graduation she attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she received her RN. She practiced hospital nursing in Wisconsin until joining the Army in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. She was honorably discharged from the Army as Captain in 1955 after faithfully serving as OR nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center. Thereafter she worked many years as a school nurse in Corpus Christi, Tulsa and Highland Park. While in the Army she met her late husband, Joe Snodgrass. They were married in San Antonio in 1954 and had 26 wonderful years of marriage before Joe’s death in 1980. They had one son, Patrick Snodgrass. Dolores loved her family and was delighted to become a grandmother when Sarah Elizabeth was born to Pat and his wife, Marcia. Another passion dear to her life was football. She was a regular fan at HP football games and a staunch supporter of her Dallas Cowboys. In 1995 she married the late Dayle Wilbur Booher. They shared a very short, but happy time together before his death in 2000. Dolores is survived by her son Patrick Snodgrass (Marcia Snodgrass) of San Antonio, TX; her granddaughter Sarah Bowe (Brian Bowe) of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Dolores Hays of Lancaster, TX; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Brownfield, TX; and many wonderful nieces and nephews in the Snodgrass family. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral home on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Rita’s Catholic Church on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 with Father Joshua Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family suggests donations to The Alzheimer’s Association or The American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
