Donald "Don" Lee Crabtree Sr's Obituary
Donald Lee Crabtree, Sr. (Don), was born in Dallas on November 24, 1941, to parents Howard A. Crabtree and Sammie Hurst and was lovingly raised by his grandmother Ona Posey. On May 6, 2022, God opened His arms and called him home to Heaven.
When he was a young man, he prayed to God and asked, “if you give me a family of my own to love, I promise to show you what a family is supposed to be.” God answered his prayer when he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Barbee) Crabtree, who he met in Highschool and married on September 9, 1960. They spent 61 beautiful years in marriage. They were always inseparable. Yet, their love, compassion, and devotion to each other never wavered. His wife, kids, family, and friends were Don’s life.
His contagious smile, quick wit, and hilarious “zingers” are what his many lifelong friends and all those who knew him will remember. He never met a stranger and took pride in bringing smiles to everyone he met. He indeed was one of a kind.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Crabtree, daughter and son-in-law Stacy and Danny Gause of Lewisville, son and daughter-in-law Donald Lee (Don, Jr.) and Rebecca Crabtree of Garland. In addition, four grandchildren, Candon Howard, Justin Howard, Jacob Shanks, and Rylan Crabtree, and four great-grandchildren, Emily Perla, Kaylee Perla, Irie Howard, and Autumn Howard.
