Donald "Don" V. Grimes' Obituary
Donald “Don” V. Grimes of Dallas, Texas passed away June 17, 2025.
He was born on August 21, 1949, in Denton, Texas to Vernon A. Grimes and Mauna Lucille “Lucy” Nall.
Don was predeceased by his sister Janelle Warren. Don is survived by his cherished wife Debbie Grimes, his son Matthew (Gordana) his daughter Rachel Grimes, his nephews Blair Warren (Diane) Blake Warren (Kelly) his niece Cheryl Cuppetilli (Mark) and their children. Don loved his extended family in Canada and will be remembered as the true gentleman he was.
Don spent his early years in Denton, Texas doodling, daydreaming and reading Field & Stream from cover to cover. He loved the outdoors and going fishing was always at the top of the list.
After graduating from the University of North Texas (UNT), Don traveled to Los Angeles to attend the ArtCenter College of Design. After graduating he did what he was destined to do, become a Graphic Designer.
Don returned to Texas and had a long career creating and designing work that would result in many awards, recognition of his work, but most importantly, so many friendships. He often spoke of the many talented people he had known and worked with throughout his career.
It pained Don as he lost many of those friends in recent years.
Don and I would like to thank our dear friends Caren and Darin for being there for us throughout his long battle with cancer. Friday nights will never be the same.
His Mrs. is not sure how she will be without her Mr. This is something Don worried about every day. He was the most incredible man and will be missed every minute of every day.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date and those interested should send a message to: dodesign@flash. net
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation at: https://www.tpwf.org to honor Don's love of the outdoors.
